Community Storm Shelters

As part of Colbert County's commitment to being Storm Ready, and with the aid of FEMA grants, the Colbert County Commission has erected community storm shelters throughout the county.

Built of steel and reinforced concrete, the shelters are designed to provide citizens with safe harbor during severe weather conditions.

Trash Pick-Up

The Colbert County Commission provides White Goods Roadside Pickup service. For more information about this service and pickup schedules, call the County Household Garbage Collection Agency at (256) 383-9918.

Holiday Pick-Up Schedule

Daily household garbage pick-up is interrupted only four times per year: New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Whatever day your normal garbage pick-up is scheduled, set your refuse out the next day following one of these four holidays.

Example: if your normal pick-up day is Tuesday, plan for pickup on Wednesday, and so on throughout the week. Friday pick-up will be done on Saturday.
